OIT is hiring student employees for Spring 2010! Multiple openings are available in the Link, as a student trainer, with the MPS labs, and in community outreach in the Durham Public Schools. Students play a crucial part in providing technology support to the Duke community and have many opportunities to learn about computers and develop new technology skills.

Students who work in the Link help staff the Service Desk 7 days a week and provide superior customer service for students and faculty with computer problems and questions. Students working Community Outreach provide tech support for Duke neighborhood partnership schools and community centers (transportation provided to locations not within walking distance.) Students working in the MPS (Multimedia Project Studio) provide project support and training for video, audio and graphics projects in OIT's labs on East and West campus. Student Trainers teach technology courses for the Duke community (www.oit.duke.edu/training; we're especially interested in graduate students who might want to gain classroom experience through this position.)

We’re looking for students with a knack for excellent customer service and an interest in learning more about technology. If you have previous experience working with computers, that’s great – but if you don’t, we will provide training. Many of our student employees started out with basic knowledge about their own computers and have used this job to gain more technology experience. You can work anywhere from 6 – 19 hours a week, depending on your schedule and interests. Work study is preferred, but not required - we welcome applicants who have work-study awards as well as those who do not.
