The Liedtke Lab at Duke University is seeking undergraduate helpers for hourly pay. Part of the Neurology/Neurobiology Department, our lab uses contemporary molecular tools to interrogate sensory systems with relation to pain transduction and transmission.
Students should be 1st or 2nd year and willing to work with us with eagerness and enthusiasm. It will not hurt if the candidate feels driven towards a biomedical career, be it pre-med or pre-life-science-PhD.
However, to get her/him started, we are expecting that she/he will take care of a number of lab-chores that we need to have done as first priority. That will be a natural segue into the multiple lines of inquiry that we pursue. At a later point, when these support chores will be routine, then an increased level of involvement with a particular project can be discussed.
The young colleague may move into the Caenorhabditis elegans project that is currently headed by a graduate student in our lab. This is due to the fact that worms lend themselves to dedicated undergrads and are highly suitable for any eventual projects to pursue.
Interested candidates are encouraged to go to our website (www.liedtkelab.org), as well as contact and send a CV/biosketch to Wolfgang Liedtke, MD PhD (wolfgang@neuro.duke.edu).
